Recipes of Chinese herbs for premature ejaculation

In Chinese medicine, premature ejaculation can be caused by negative emotions, the invading of pathogenic dampness with heat, excessive sexual life, or the weakness of the body caused by long-term illness.

Kidneys store Jing which has crucial influence on fertility. Semen is transformed from kidney Jing, and is regulated by kidney Qi. If kidney Qi is not able to hold semen, premature ejaculation happens. In addition to the deficiency of kidney Qi, the deficiency of kidney Yin, the deficiency of the heart and the spleen, and the invasion of pathogenic dampness with heat to the meridian of the liver may also lead to premature ejaculation.

Syndrome caused by the invasion of dampness with heat to the liver meridian

When pathogenic dampness with heat invades the meridian of the liver, premature ejaculation may happen with the following symptoms: the penis is easy to have an erection; there is a bitter taste in the mouth, and the throat is dry; the chest feels tightness, and the hypochondria feel pain; the scrotum is wet and itches, and urine is yellow and cloudy; the tongue is red, the covering of the tongue is yellow and looks like a layer of lard; the pulse is taut like a string, slippery like a pearl rolling on a plate, and rapid.

The treatment method is to remove the dampness and heat from the meridian of the liver. The representative recipe for the treatment is Long Dan Xie Gan Tang. The recipe contains Long Dan Cao (6 g), Ze Xie (12 g), Mu Tong (6 g), Che Qian Zi (9 g), Dang Gui (3 g), Chai Hu (6 g), Sheng Di Huang (9 g), Huang Qin (9 g), Zhi Zi (9 g), and Sheng Gan Cao (6 g).

If the symptoms caused by dampness with heat are more severe, Ku Shen, Bai Hua She She Cao and Huang Bo can be added to the recipe.

If the scrotum is wet and the itching is hard to bear, Tu Fu Ling, Di Fu Zi and She Chuang Zi can be added to the recipe.

Syndrome caused by the deficiency of the heart and the spleen

When the deficiency of the heart and the spleen causes premature ejaculation, there are the following symptoms: palpitations, frequent forgetfulness, and a lot of dreams during sleep; lack of appetite, the distending feeling in the abdomen, and loose stool; tiredness, and lacking in strength; pale tongue; thin and weak pulse.

The treatment method is to nourish the heart and the spleen. The representative recipe for the treatment is Gui Pi Tang. The recipe contains Ren Shen (9 g), Huang Qi (18 g), Bai Zhu (18 g), Fu Shen (18 g), Suan Zao Ren (18 g), Long Yan Rou (18 g), Mu Xiang (9 g), Zhi Gan Cao (6 g), Dang Gui (3 g), Yuan Zhi (3 g), Sheng Jiang (5 pieces), and Da Zao (1, number).

If there are also the symptoms of the deficiency of kidneys, Shan Zhu Yu, Du Zhong, Tu Si Zi, Jin Ying Zi and Qian Shi can be added to the recipe.

If there are also the symptoms of the deficiency of heart Yin, Sheng Mai San, which contains Mai Dong (9 g), Wu Wei Zi (6 g) and Ren Shen (9 g), can be combined with the recipe.

Syndrome caused by hyperactivity of the fire of kidneys

The deficiency of kidney Yin leads to the hyperactivity of kidney Yang. Heart Yang is called heart fire, while kidney Yang is called kidney fire. They are healthy fire, but their hyperactivity is pathogenic. The fire of the heart is called the fire of the monarch, because in the theory of Chinese medicine the heart plays the role of a monarch. The fire of the kidneys and the fire of the liver are called the fire of the prime minister.

When the fire of kidneys is hyperactive, premature ejaculation may happen with the following symptoms: the penis is easy to have an erection; the lower back and the knees feel sore and weak; the person is restless, and feels hot in the center areas of palms and soles, and the heart region; the feeling of hotness appears regularly like tides, and there are night sweats; the tongue is red with few covering; the pulse is thin and rapid.

The treatment method is to nourish Yin and reduce fire. The representative recipe for the treatment is Zhi Bo Di Huang Wan. The recipe contains Zhi Mu (6 g), Huang Bo (6 g), Shu Di Huang (24 g), Shan Zhu Yu (12 g), Shan Yao (12 g), Fu Ling (9 g), Mu Dan Pi (9 g), and Ze Xie (9 g).

If nocturnal emission or wet dreams are frequent, Jin Ying Zi, Sha Yuan Zi, Nyu Zhen Zi, Han Lian Cao, and Gui Jia can be added to the recipe.

If the person feels very restless with the hot feeling in the center areas of palms and soles and the heart region, Bie Jia and Di Gu Pi can be added to the recipe.

If the soreness of the lower back caused by the deficiency of kidneys is severe, Xu Duan, Gou Ji, and Du Zhong can be added to the recipe.

Syndrome caused by the weakness of kidney Qi

When kidney Qi is weak, premature ejaculation may happen with the following symptoms: nocturnal emission or wet dreams; hypoactive sexual desire; soreness and weakness of the lower back and knees; clear urine which is more than usual, and frequent urination in the night; pale face; pale tongue, and white covering of the tongue; sunken and weak pulse.

The treatment method is to nourish kidneys and hold kidney Jing. The representative recipe for the treatment is Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan. The recipe contains Gui Zhi (3 g), Fu Zi (3 g), Shu Di Huang (24 g), Shan Zhu Yu (12 g), Shan Yao (12 g), Fu Ling (9 g), Mu Dan Pi (9 g), and Ze Xie (9 g).

For reinforcing the efficacy of nourishing kidneys and holding kidney Jing, Long Gu, Mu Li, Du Zhong, Rou Cong Rong, Tu Si Zi, Jin Ying Zi, and Qian Shi can be added to the recipe.

If semen is clear and cold, the recipe can be changed to Zan Yu Dan, which contains Shu Di Huang, Bai Zhu, Dang Gui, Gou Qi Zi, Du Zhong, Xian Mao, Ba Ji Tian, Shan Zhu Yu, Ying Yang Huo, Rou Cong Rong, Jiu Cai Zi, She Chuang Zi, Fu Zi, and Rou Gui.

If urination is very frequent in the night, Yi Zhi Ren and Wu Yao can be added to the recipe.
