Recipes of Chinese herbs for headache caused by wind and heat

In traditional Chinese medicine, the causes of headache include external pathogenic factors and internal factors. The external pathogenic factors which can cause headache are wind, coldness, dampness, and heat, while wind plays a key role. The article is talking about Chinese herbs for relieving headache caused by wind and heat.

When wind and heat cause headache, the head feels distending pain, and even the head feels like being about to burst. The person may have fever or fear wind. The face is red, and the eyes are bloodshot. The person feels thirsty and often wants to drink water. He suffers from constipation, and his urine is dark yellow with a little red colour. The tip of the tongue is red, and the coating of the tongue is thin and yellow. The pulse is floating and rapid.

The treatment principle for the syndrome is to expel wind, remove heat and soothe the branches of meridians. The representative recipe is Xiong Zhi Shi Gao Tang, which contains Chuan Xiong, Bai Zhi, Shi Gao, Ju Hua, Gao Ben, and Qiang Huo.

2. The product Huang Lian Shang Qing Wan: The product is available in China. The recipe of the product is recorded in Chinese Pharmacopoeia, and it is different from the original recipe. The medicinal materials used by the product contains Huang Lian, Zhi Zi, Lian Qiao, Man Jing Zi, Fang Feng, Jing Jie Sui, Bai Zhi, Huang Qin, Ju Hua, Bo He, Da Huang, Huang Bo, Jie Geng, Chuan Xiong, Shi Gao, Xuan Fu Hua, and Gan Cao.
